She gets this way sometimes
Kind of sad, really
I don't know what brings it on
I want to help
When it's not too bad, she says there is
Nothing I can do
Mostly, she is happy
She is really sweet
In public, she is always cheerful
Vivacious, some say
Funny, thoughtful, caring
You would never know
But it scares me
What do I do without her
Kind of sad, really
I don't know what brings it on
I want to help
When it's not too bad, she says there is
Nothing I can do
Mostly, she is happy
She is really sweet
In public, she is always cheerful
Vivacious, some say
Funny, thoughtful, caring
You would never know
But it scares me
What do I do without her

verification makes it really hard to comment. you'd get more comments if you turned it off. i had to do this several times to get it to work.
interesting...and you went in a fresh direction from the prompt...made me think of those that have a spouse that deals with depression or something similar...
ReplyDeleteI think I've turned it off
ReplyDeleteYaY!!!
ReplyDeleteFears, phobias, insecurities, and even the fear of being alone! You've managed to encapsulate them so well.
ReplyDeleteWow! I take this to be a reflection on BiPolar disorder and I think you've revealed it in this well. I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteI read it the same way Brian and Kat did. An excellent direction to take with this really unique prompt.
ReplyDelete=)
I can relate...a little too well...
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with the others...this is a stark rendering. It describes the way I feel when dealing with one beloved family member...
ReplyDeleteI work in a nursing home, and am reminded each day by our dear, sweet residents suffering from dementia how they are now "gone" from their families. This reminded me of them a lot. Very well thought and expressed.
ReplyDeleteInteresting ... I think this could be taken a number of ways ... well-written but enigmatic and there's nothing at all wrong with that; it suits the artwork, I think - I may have to re-read it several times and even then, still think it can be taken a number of ways ...
